The Turbocharger consists of 4 basic parts: compressor housing, turbine housing, center rotating assembly, and wastegate (including actuator). From a design and performance standpoint there are 3 parts: compressor, turbine, and wastegate. The difference is that the compressor and turbine wheels are mechanically part of the center rotating assembly, yet they are integral to the performance of their respective housings.
